The Jerusalem Light Rail stretches from Pisgat Ze’ev in the North (Heil Ha’avir Station) to Mount Herzl in the West, with 23 stops altogether.

Sun – Thurs: 5:30am – +/- 11:55pm

5:30am – 6:00am: Every 15 min
6:00am – 5:30pm: Every 6.5 – 8 min
5:30am – 10:00pm: Every 10 min
10:00pm – 12:00am: Every15 min

Fri: 5:30am – 4:30pm (every 8 minutes) and then every sixteen minutes until

trains stop running about 90 minutes before Shabbat

Saturday Night: One hour after Shabbat – 12:00am (every ten minutes)

  • A single far costs 6.90 ILS (3.50 ILS for senior citizens).
  • A 10-ride ticket costs 55.20 ILS (34.5 ILS for senior citizens and youth).
  • A 15-ride ticket costs 69 ILS (for National Insurance Eligible and students).
  • A 20-ride ticket costs 110.40 (69 ILS for senior citizens and youth).
  • A monthly pass costs 246 ILS (123 ILS for senior citizens).

Light Rail – Important Tips

  • Ticket machines are in English, Hebrew and Arabic only.
  • Purchase your ticket at the ticket machine before getting on the train (make sure the time is printed on it), validate it when you board the train by swiping it and then keep it for possible (and regular) ticket inspection by police officers. Those without proof of valid tickets are fined 180 ILS on the spot.
  • It is possible to pay by credit card at the ticket machines, even for single trips.
  • Payment by cash: maximum of 10 coins. Permissible notes are listed at the bottom of the screen depending on the sum of the transaction.
  • Single trip tickets are only available for the day of purchase.
  • Tickets are valid for 90 minutes from the time of first validation.
  • One child up to 5 years old gets to ride for free if accompanied by a paying passenger. Tickets need to be purchased for additional children.
  • An open stroller needs a ticket during rush hours (Fri and Holiday Eves: All day; Sun – Thurs: 7:00am – 10:00am; 3:00pm – 7:00pm).
